Singapore's National Butterfly
The concept and the video for this project were both created for my final year BA project - Conversation Conservation. The vision for the platform was to match design professionals with conservationists in Singapore, to raise awareness about local wildlife issues rather than something far away and disconnected from the society.
Involving communication designers from the very first step of planning a conservation campaign can go a long way. This is an animated brief to call for designers in Singapore to work on Singapore's National Butterfly Campaign.
In 2012, the first meet up for Conversation Conservation took place as an experiment at the Lasalle College of the Arts. The slogan 'Not another panda campaign' emerged from this transdisciplinary engagement between butterfly scientist Anuj Jain from National University of Singapore and graphic designers in Singapore, taking a critical look at popular wildlife campaigns that alienate locals.
